Grizzlies' Joerger: No timetable for Conley or Allen's return

Justin Ford / USA TODAY Sports

It's the last day of the regular season and the Memphis Grizzlies officially have no idea when their starting backcourt will be back on the court.

Both point guard Mike Conley and shooting guard Tony Allen are sitting out the team's finale against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, Conley for the third consecutive game due to a foot sprain and Allen for the ninth straight due to a balky hamstring.

Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger said before Wednesday's contest that even if it were a playoff game, neither guy would be able to suit up and there is no timetable for their return, according to Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal

A loss Wednesday (or wins by the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs) would lock the Grizzlies into the No. 6 seed and a first-round meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have the league's top-ranked offense, so the possibility of the Grizzlies being without their two best perimeter defenders for any portion of that series (or any series, really) is not an appealing one. Their offense has also cratered without Conley this season and they've been outscored overall when Allen is on the bench.
