Rivers calls exchange between Paul, Griffin a sign of growth

Two All-Star teammates arguing on national TV while their team is up 23 points usually isn't a good look, but Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers had no qualms with Wednesday's exchange between Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

"I hate when stuff goes unsaid. They were upset over one of the plays. Blake was more upset at himself. I didn't mind it at all," Rivers said following Wednesday's 112-101 victory in Phoenix, as reported by ESPN's Arash Markazi.

Paul and Griffin were seen arguing about a play late in the first half with the Clippers up big.

"I would say a year ago whenever anybody got upset over a play or something no one talked to each other," Rivers said. "This group has really grown."

Paul and Griffin both sided with Rivers's assessment after the game.

"I think it shows we're always trying to get it right," Paul said after suiting up in his 82nd game of the season.

"To me, personally, I think it's a great thing for two guys like that to not settle for being up by 23 going into the locker room," Griffin added. "It's probably a perfectionist thing on both of our parts, but I think it's a great thing."

According to Markazi, the words "Talk it out. Figure it out. Move on." were written on the whiteboard in the Clippers' locker room after the game.

With their regular season complete and the postseason just days away, Paul, Griffin and the rest of the Clippers have no choice but to do just that.
