Race to the bottom: Timberwolves finish with NBA's worst record, Knicks 2nd worst

Brad Rempel / USA TODAY Sports

Someone has to be last.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have finished the regular season with the NBA's worst record at 16-66. This is the 11th season that the Timberwolves have missed the playoffs.

Joining the Timberwolves at the bottom of the barrel are the New York Knicks with the second-worst record at 17-65. This is the second consecutive year that the Knicks have missed the postseason.

With Wednesday night's 138-111 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota can earn no lower than No. 4 in this year's NBA draft and has a 25-percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick, according to the New York Times

New York, who fell to the Detroit Pistons 112-90, has a 20-percent chance at the top draft pick.
