Mavs resting Nowitzki, Chandler and Ellis on Monday; Parsons still out

With their playoff position secure and nothing left to play for over the final week of the regular season, the Dallas Mavericks are finding time to rest their key players.

Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis and Tyson Chandler will all get Monday's game against the Utah Jazz off, with the three starters resting back in Dallas while the team travels to Salt Lake City.

Chandler Parsons, meanwhile, will miss a fifth straight game due to swelling in his right knee, leaving Rajon Rondo as the only Dallas starter expected to suit up Monday.

Head coach Rick Carlisle said last Wednesday that while the Mavs hope to get Parsons back on the court for one of the team's final regular-season games, there are no guarantees. With the small forward being ruled out for Monday's game, that leaves only Wednesday's season finale as a potential regular-season return date for Parsons.

The Mavs are locked into the Western Conference's No. 7 seed and rested Devin Harris and Amar'e Stoudemire against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
