Blazers' Aldridge to sit Saturday due to foot sprain

Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports

Tack another injury on to the laundry list Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been compiling this season.

Aldridge, who's played through a torn thumb ligament that was expected to sideline him for two months, as well as a sprained index finger, is now dealing with a left foot sprain.

The latest ailment will keep Aldridge out of Saturday's game against the Utah Jazz, but right now that's the least of the Blazers' worries. Already locked into the No. 4 seed but with virtually no shot at securing homecourt advantage in the first round, Portland has nothing to play for until the regular season ends.

Once the playoffs commence, they'll desperately need Aldridge - who leads the team in scoring (23.5), rebounding (10.3), usage rate (30.1) and PER (23.0) - to be at or near 100 percent.

The Blazers are already without Wesley Matthews for the remainder of the season, Dorell Wright for likely another month, and Arron Afflalo for the next one-to-two weeks.
