The Boston Celtics selected Georgia State shooting guard R.J. Hunter with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Hunter got the shot that make your daddy go splat. The Celts will hope that Hunter's more than one big shot and one shining moment, with poor percentages masking what's actually an impressive shot-making and playmaking profile.

Carrying the load for the Panthers for three seasons, Hunter's numbers somewhat obscure his talents, as defenses sold out to stop him. Watching him shoot makes it patently obvious that he's better than a 30.5 percent 3-point marksman - and his role may have been beneficial, as it forced him to facilitate for others more than he would've had to otherwise.

With a 6-foot-10.5 wingspan and great lateral quickness - he got a ton of steals as a zone-defense freelancer - Hunter profiles as a spacing weapon who may be able to contribute more. At No. 28, his floor as a spot-up threat alone would have warranted this pick. If he can grow beyond that role, this could be a steal.

Hunter was Boston's second pick in the first round. The Celtics selected another backcourt player, point guard Terry Rozier, with the 16th pick. The Celtics' wealth of draft picks now and in coming seasons may have them feeling like they have a little more leeway in terms of player development.
