Butler dunks late to give Wizards fans half-priced pizza, Derek Fisher displeased

Sometimes you just want to send the fans home happy.

Because a win over the New York Knicks on Friday night kind of seemed like a given, the Washington Wizards had to do their home crowd one better.

Despite having the ball and holding a 99-87 lead in the game's waning seconds, Wizards swingman Rasual Butler flew in for an emphatic dunk to cap things off. In accordance with a team promotion, breaking 100 points earned the fans in attendance half-priced Papa John's pizza.

For Knicks head coach Derek Fisher, who's had a trying enough season without any of the many humbling losses being rubbed in his face, didn't feel the last-second dunk was necessary.

"The pizza doesn’t taste that great," Fisher said, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post

"They dunked it at the end there," added Knicks forward/center/man-bun enthusiast Lou Amundson. "I don’t know if that was needed."

Fisher was then asked if the Knicks should have let the final seconds tick off the clock.

"Some teams run it out," said Fisher. "I’ve seen it go both ways. We’re in that position right now. But it won’t always be that way. We'll have those nights we’ll have that choice."

In the future, maybe. This season, the Knicks have won just two games by double-digits, the fewest for any team in the NBA.
