Hinrich out, McDermott in for Bulls on Friday

Dennis Wierzbicki / USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bulls will have rookie swingman Doug McDermott back from a four-game absence when they host the Detroit Pistons on Friday, but will be without point guard Kirk Hinrich, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau

McDermott, who's played sparingly even when healthy, has been dealing with lower back soreness. Hinrich suffered a hyperextended knee in the Bulls' loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

The Bulls are in a dead heat with the Toronto Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference, but the Raptors hold the tiebreaker by virtue of having locked up the Atlantic Division (the Bulls are 3.5 games back of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Central).
