Pelicans' Ryan Anderson will play Wednesday after 18-game absence

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson will make his return Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Head coach Monty Williams said he will ease Anderson back into the lineup without a minutes restriction.

Anderson has missed the last 18 games with a knee injury. He was ruled out for two-to-four weeks with a sprained MCL on Feb. 22.

The Pelicans trail the Oklahoma City Thunder by 2.5 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Anderson averaged 14.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 3-pointers in 52 games prior to the injury.
