Durant undergoes successful bone graft surgery on foot, out 4-6 months
The healing can officially begin for the NBA's reigning MVP.
After a galling season full of fits and starts, plagued by recurring pain due to a Jones fracture in his right foot, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant underwent successful bone graft surgery on Tuesday.
It's third procedure for Durant on the fifth metatarsal of his right foot this season, having suffered the initial fracture during preseason in October. It will also be the last.
As was initially projected, the surgery will sideline Durant for the next four-to-six months.
In his abbreviated, 27-game follow-up to his historic MVP campaign, Durant averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists, while shooting a typically Durant-ian 51 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from beyond the arc.
The Thunder were 18-9 in games he suited up for.
