Hawks' Schroder out Tuesday with toe injury

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

If the Atlanta Hawks rest Jeff Teague on the second night of a back-to-back on Tuesday, it won't be Dennis Schroder starting in his place.

Schroder suffered a left toe injury during Monday's victory over the Milwaukee Bucks and will not travel with the team to Detroit for Tuesday's game. The sophomore guard left Monday's game early in the second quarter after only six minutes of action and did not return.

Schroder is averaging 9.9 points, 4.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds in nearly 20 minutes per game off the Hawks' bench.

Teague returned to the lineup Monday after missing two games with ankle soreness, but with the Hawks already having locked up the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed, it wouldn't be surprising to see coach Mike Budenholzer rest his starters again on Tuesday, as he did Saturday in Charlotte.

Shelvin Mack would likely get the start against the Pistons if both Schroder and Teague are held out.
