Pistons' Monroe remains sidelined with knee strain

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Pistons will be without big man Greg Monroe for the seventh consecutive game Sunday against the playoff-hopeful Miami Heat

Monroe, who has been sidelined with a right knee strain, recently said he has every intention of playing again this season. His next chance to return comes Tuesday versus the Atlanta Hawks

Detroit, which will miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, has nine games remaining after Sunday.

Set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, Monroe is averaging 16 points and a career-high 10.4 rebounds while shooting 49.6 percent from the field in 64 games.

The Heat will be without Hassan Whiteside, who's set to miss his third straight game after suffering a hand laceration.
