Report: Wizards adding Will Bynum, cutting Toure' Murry

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards are adding veteran guard Will Bynum for their stretch run towards the postseason, according to CSNWashington.com's J. Michael.

Citing persons with knowledge of the situation, Michael reports that Bynum could join the slumping Wizards as early as Friday, with the team likely releasing 10-day signee Toure' Murry, who sprained his ankle a day after signing his second 10-day deal with Washington.

Bynum, who played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China for the majority of the NBA season, has reportedly been a late-season target of the Wizards for some time. He was limited by a hamstring injury earlier this month.

The Wizards are faced with a banged up backcourt, as Bradley Beal is dealing with a sprained ankle and Garrett Temple has a strained hamstring.

The 32-year-old Bynum averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds in nearly 19 minutes per game with the Detroit Pistons last season. Bynum spent six seasons with the Pistons after a couple years in Israel and a cup of coffee with the Golden State Warriors.
