Portland Trail Blazers (44-25) at Utah Jazz (31-39), 9 p.m. (ET)
(SportsNetwork.com) - The Portland Trail Blazers will try to slam on the brakes of a five-game losing streak Wednesday night when they visit the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.
After a win in Toronto to start a five-game road trip, the Blazers lost the last four, then, returned home and fell to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, 122-108.
Portland is down to fifth in the Western Conference standings, just a half- game ahead of both the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks. The Blazers are only a game out of fourth, but a seventh seed is a real possibility.
Damian Lillard did all he could to keep the short-handed Blazers afloat against Golden State. He poured in 29 points with seven rebounds and five assists. C.J. McCollum recorded a career-high 23 points off the bench.
Portland fell to 3-5 this season without All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who sprained his index finger earlier in the week. Nicolas Batum (back) and Chris Kaman (shoulder) were also out of the lineup.
"At one point, there was all guards on the floor for both teams. That was different," said Lillard. "A new experience for a lot of us."
The three injured Blazers are doubtful for Wednesday.
Portland heads to Phoenix on Friday, then plays three straight at home.
The Jazz have dropped two in a row and three of their last four, including consecutive losses at home.
On Tuesday, the Jazz fell at home to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, 106-104 in overtime.
Derrick Favors posted 19 points and 12 boards, while Rudy Gobert added 18 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks for Utah, which has been in this funk on the heels of a six-game winning streak.
"They just made tough shots. All the shots they took were contested," Favors said. "They just made tough shots so you can't do nothing about it."
Minnesota's Zach LaVine buried a tying-3 with 12.2 seconds left in regulation. Utah scrapped in overtime, but couldn't overcome an early, five-point deficit to start the extra session.
The Jazz were the last team to play an overtime game this season.
Utah defeated the Blazers by 16 in Salt Lake City on Feb. 20 and the two teams will meet on April 11 in Portland. The Jazz' victory a little over a month ago snapped a five-game series losing streak and they are 5-2 in their last seven as the host over Portland.
