Heat's Wade, Whiteside out Wednesday

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat continue to be snakebitten by injuries.

Center Hassan Whiteside is out for Wednesday's game against the Boston Celtics, a night after suffering a hand laceration that required 10 stitches.

He sustained the injury in Tuesday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks and left the contest after logging 12 minutes. Whiteside said he couldn't feel his hand after the game, so his absence Wednesday comes as little surprise.

The Heat will also be without leading scorer Dwyane Wade, who was a late scratch with swelling in his left knee. He hurt his knee after falling in Tuesday's game.

"I don't think it's smart for me to play on it," Wade said. "I felt it last night as the game went on.”

Wade has been on a tear, evoking memories of his former, dominant self. He's averaged 25 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists, while shooting 50.5 percent from the field in 11 games in March.

In a game with playoff implications, Wade and Whiteside's presences will be missed. Whiteside's averaged 13.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 27.4 minutes over 26 starts.

Miami enters the night in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, a game ahead of the Celtics, who sit in eighth.
