Raptors' Lowry to return Tuesday from 2-game absence

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors will be at full strength when they take on the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

Point guard Kyle Lowry, who has missed the Raptors' last two games with a back contusion, will dress and start.

Lowry is in the midst of his best season to date, posting averages of 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.8 minutes.

However, those numbers are buoyed by a red-hot start to the season in which Lowry was the driving force behind the Raptors' 24-7 start.

Since the All-Star break, fatigue and nagging injuries have cut down on Lowry's effectiveness, which coincided with the Raptors slipping in the standings. Toronto has gone 6-11 since the All-Star break.

The wear and tear pushed Lowry to sit out three games to allow a finger injury to heal. The rest translated to better performance, especially with Lowry's 3-point shooting, as he shot 48.9 percent in the seven games since, before sitting out two games to rest his back.

Lowry's return pushes Greivis Vasquez back to the bench.
