Saturday marked the end of a proud era: Two-time MVP Steve Nash officially retired after an illustrious 18-year career.

Despite never winning a championship, Nash leaves behind a tremendous legacy as one of the best offensive players ever. The eight-time All-Star changed the game with his signature high-speed, pace and space style of offense honed from legendary coaches like Don Nelson and Mike D'Antoni.

The list of modern offense that have drawn elements from Nash's offenses are endless. That's no surprise: Nash's teams ranked in the top-two for every season between 2001-10.

But despite his tremendous accomplishments, there is one notable aspect of Nash's career that won't inspire copycats: his whacky hairstyles.

Here are the top five hairstylings of all-time great Steve Nash.

5. The "Chad Kroeger"

The early 2000s were a strange time, especially for NBA players. Most notably, frosted tips and dyed hair became something of a trend. Pictured above is Nash with his good friend Dirk Nowitzki after being acquired by the Dallas Mavericks in 1998.

The two future Hall of Famers went on to form one of the league's best two-man pairings through six memorable years in Dallas.

4. The "Sideburn"

For a brief stint in 1999, before Nash's career had yet to take off, Nash rocked a near sideburn and goatee look.

The look is bizarre in retrospect, as Nash was almost always clean-shaven, save for some occasional bouts of stubble and that one time he showed up at Lakers practice looking like a 50-year-old.

3. The "Buzz Cut"

As the story goes, Nash showed up at a basketball camp in Vancouver without his classic mop top in 2006. Instead, he wore a short buzz cut.

Nash offered no explanation for the change, but he did draw a reaction from a young Canadian high schooler. "I was like, "Wow!'" said Robert Sacre, who later became Nash's teammate in Los Angeles.

2. The "Gatsby"

Nash's stint with the Los Angeles Lakers was one to forget.

He famously signed in Los Angeles in 2012 to form a "Big Four" with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard. That team was dogged by injuries all season and never gelled. They were easily bounced in the first round of the playoffs. Nash went on to slug through another two injury-laden seasons before mercifully calling it quits.

However, despite never finding the success on the court, Nash finally righted his hair game. For once in his career, Nash's hair was kept in check and it even drew the nickname "Gatsby" from Bryant.

1. The "Floppy Mop"

The image of Steve Nash will always be characterized by his long, sweat-soaked strands flapping wildly behind him while he runs high pick-and-roll.
