Pistons' Monroe remains out with knee strain

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Pistons big man Greg Monroe remains sidelined for Wednesday's contest against the Philadelphia 76ers with a right knee strain. It will be the second consecutive game he's missed.

Monroe hurt his knee during Monday's practice and was an observer for the Pistons' 105-95 upset of the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old, set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, has enjoyed another productive campaign for the Pistons, whose recent slide has all but eliminated them from playoff contention. Monroe's averaging 16 points on 49.6 percent shooting from the field and a career-high 10.4 rebounds per game. His average of 3.4 offensive rebounds puts him fifth in the league.

Detroit's recent 10-game losing skid dropped it to 12th in the Eastern Conference with 15 contests remaining in the season. The Pistons are 6 1/2 games back of the Miami Heat for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Monroe's next chance to play will come Saturday against the Chicago Bulls.
