Pistons' Greg Monroe out Tuesday, SVG says he should be 'OK'

Tim Fuller / USA Today Sports

The Detroit Pistons will be without one of their big men Tuesday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.

Power forward Greg Monroe strained his right knee in practice on Monday and will sit out

Monroe's injury came on the same day that his frontcourt partner Andre Drummond was cleared to play Tuesday after a concussion scare against the Utah Jazz over the weekend.

However, Monroe's injury doesn't appear to be serious. Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy told Keith Langlois of Pistons.com that Monroe should be '"OK" and that an MRI of his knee was "good."

Monroe is averaging a double-double this season for the first time in his career - 16 points and 10.4 rebounds a game. The Georgetown product is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The Pistons have lost 10 straight going into Tuesday's game against the Southwest Division-leading Grizzlies. There may be no worse team to face without the combination of Drummond and Monroe, with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph on the other side.
