Nuggets to rest Lawson, Faried, Gallinari Monday

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets were in tough against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday regardless. They'll be even more hard-pressed to put up much of a fight now, as the team will rest Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari.

The Nuggets outlasted the New Orleans Pelicans in double overtime on Sunday, and there isn't much need to trot their stars out on the second night of a back-to-back given the circumstances.

The Nuggets are well out of the playoff race. At 26-41, sitting eighth from the bottom in the overall standings, draft positioning likely means more.

Not to mention Gallinari is still working his way back from a torn ACL in his left knee, which required three surgeries, and a meniscus tear in his right knee that was surgically repaired only a few months ago.

Lawson sat out Friday's game due to illness before logging 48 minutes of playing time in Sunday's marathon victory, while Faried logged 43 minutes on Sunday.
