Spurs' Ginobili out at least a week with right ankle sprain

Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs left Sunday night's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a sprained right ankle and did not return.

Following the game, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters the injury is serious enough for Ginobili to miss 7-10 days.

Ginobili landed on the foot of the Wolves' Gorgui Dieng in the third quarter Sunday and had to be helped to the locker room. The injury looked serious enough that teammates were relieved at hearing news it was just a sprain.

The 37-year-old Ginobili is averaging 11.4 points and 4.4 assists per game off the bench this year. San Antonio already had another cog in their veteran Big 3 - point guard Tony Parker - miss extended time this season.

Earlier in Sunday's game, Ginobili was having a good time, calling a technical foul on a ref. The Spurs also lost center Aron Baynes in the game to a rib contusion.
