Wall's 31 help Wizards overcome 20-point deficit against Kings

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Call it a tale of two halves.

Despite trailing by as much as 20 points in the first half, the Washington Wizards emerged victorious over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday by a score of 113-97.

All-Star point guard John Wall was instrumental in Washington's comeback. Wall played two roles: he was the port in the storm in the first half, keeping Washington's deficit manageable, before spurring the charge in the Wizards' ridiculous 67-33 second half.

It was just a matter of Wall's teammates making shots. Wall set up teammates in the first half, but they shot just 4-of-12 from deep as compared to 9-of-14 in the second half.

Apparently, Wizards head coach Randy Wittman also laid into his team with a fiery sermon, which gave rise to this awesome post-game quote.

Wittman is going to church tomorrow.

Kings center DeMarcus Cousins posted his second consecutive losing effort of at least 30 points. Cousins was unstoppable on the block and even played a few possessions as the pick-and-roll ball handler en route to 30 points, six rebounds and five assists on 9-of-17 shooting.

However, it was Cousins's ill temperament that got the best of him. A visibly frustrated Cousins fouled out in just 30 minutes of play before leaving the court in a fit of rage.

Washington's victory helps them keep pace, as they now sit 1 1/2 games back of both the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls for third place in the East.
