Heat's Dragic to return from 2-game absence, Wade available

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat should have both of their starting guards on the floor for Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets, as Dwyane Wade has been upgraded from questionable to active despite an illness.

The Heat, who have dealt with their fair share of adversity, will also have Goran Dragic available Wednesday after the point guard missed two straight games with a back injury.

Dragic, the team's big deadline acquisition, is averaging 16.1 points on 52.3 percent shooting from the field and 5.1 assists in eight games since joining the Heat.

"It's getting better," he told reporters about his back. "Today I practiced and I feel great. For sure today, it's a go. I'm happy to be back helping the team."

Dragic returns to a Heat squad battling to make the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season. Miami enters Wednesday's contest a half-game behind the Charlotte Hornets - who will have Kemba Walker back for the first time in over six weeks - for eighth in the Eastern Conference.

But the team may still have limited personnel at its disposal.

Udonis Haslem, who missed the Boston game due to wrist and knee ailments, is also expected to return against the Nets.

The ninth-place Heat and 11th-place Nets enter Wednesday separated by 2 1/2 games in the race for the Eastern Conference's final two playoff spots.
