Report: Clippers' Griffin will return no earlier than Sunday

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers continue to wait for the return of Blake Griffin.

While the team was optimistic Griffin might be able to return over the weekend, he was ruled out for games Sunday and Monday night, and won't play until Sunday against the Houston Rockets at the earliest, reports the Orange County Register's Dan Woike

Griffin last played Feb. 6. He underwent elbow surgery for a staph infection, but the club's been able to stay afloat in the Western Conference without its leading scorer.

DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul have elevated their games and the Clippers are 7-5 since losing Griffin.

The Clippers have a tough week, aside from Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They're in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, in Dallas on Friday, and home to the Rockets on Sunday.

Griffin's averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and a career-high 5.1 assists in 51 games.
