X-rays on Chris Paul's left knee came back negative Sunday

There appears to be no cause for alarm in Hollywood.

Los Angeles Clippers superstar Chris Paul underwent a precautionary X-ray on his left knee on Sunday, the results of which were negative. It's unclear when Paul may have hurt the knee, but it didn't sound as if the team expects him to miss any time.

The point guard and low-key MVP candidate played 31 minutes in Sunday's loss, scoring 14 points and dishing 11 assists.

On the season, Paul has averaged 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, a league-high 10.1 assists and 1.8 steals, and the Clippers have been 15.3 points per-100 possessions better when he's on the court. Advanced catch-alls speak even more highly of Paul than basic counting stats, with the perennial runner-up - Paul has finished in the top-seven in MVP voting five times and never won - ranking third in ESPN's Real Plus-Minus-based Wins Above Replacement and third in Basketball Reference's Win Shares.

Most importantly, the Clippers are 40-23, good for fifth in the Western Conference despite playing with a paper-thin roster and through a recent injury to All-Star Blake Griffin. Long considered the best point guard in the league, Paul hasn't slowed a bit at age 29.
