Joakim Noah credits non-violence video for composure

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

When Nene knocked Joakim Noah on his back with a hard foul Tuesday, it was a little surprising to see Noah simply walk away.

He's usually a fiery competitor, and generally doesn't seem the type to take cheap shots and hard fouls well. But after releasing a video promoting non-violent resolution earlier Tuesday, Noah wasn't about to ruin that message.

As he told reporters following the game:

You know, it’s part of the process. And I really don’t know what to say right now. But I’m just happy we won, and I’m happy I kept my composure. You know, I was just trying to put out a video just a couple hours before the game about non-violence. And I’m trying to teach these kids big-picture (thinking), you know what I mean? So it wouldn’t have been a good look. Not today. Not today, you know what I mean? Not today.

The video Noah referenced is an eight-minute documentary called "You're Not Alone," which features him and several Chicago Bulls teammates talking about the dangers of a violent lifestyle. It's a good watch:
