Gordon available for Magic on Wednesday; Fournier, Ridnour out

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Hopefully for the Orlando Magic, versatile rookie Aaron Gordon is open to spending some time on the wing on Wednesday.

Gordon will return from a two-game absence due to a sprained left ankle when the Magic take on the Phoenix Suns. He has struggled to stay on the floor in his freshman year, missing 32 games with a left foot injury, one more when it flared back up and now two with the ankle issue.

When he's played, he's impressed. The No. 4 overall pick looks like a capable two-position defender, as expected, and he's rebounded well enough playing an undersized power forward most of the time. In 26 games, he's averaging 5.6 points and three rebounds in 15.5 minutes, shooting 53.4 percent from the floor and hitting 9-of-20 from long range.

Gordon's return is about the only good news the Magic received on Wednesday. Point guard Luke Ridnour will sit with a hamstring injury, shooting guard Evan Fournier is out for a third consecutive game with a hip injury and rookie wing Devyn Marble is out four-to-six weeks with a detached retina.

That leaves the Magic a little thin at the guard spots, perhaps creating an opportunity for Mo Harkless to finally see some playing time on the wing.
