Cousins returns from ankle injury Tuesday

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

DeMarcus Cousins is ready to return after missing a pair of games with a left ankle sprain and bruised left hip.

The Kings' All-Star center will start Tuesday's road matchup against the New York Knicks.

Sacramento has dropped its last two contests without Cousins and is 2-12 on the season with the big man sidelined.

Cousins is averaging a team-leading 23.7 points, 12.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks while playing improved defense for the 20-37 Kings, who are already on their third head coach of the season.

Despite Cousins's emergence as one of the game's most dominant low-post threats, Sacramento is on its way to a ninth consecutive losing season.
