Los Angeles Clippers (38-21) at Chicago Bulls (37-22), 1 p.m. (ET)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bulls continue on without Derrick Rose and will face a stiff challenge Sunday when the Los Angeles Clippers visit the United Center for a matinee.

Rose, a former MVP who had missed basically the previous two seasons with knee issues, underwent successful surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee.

Bulls general manager Gar Forman made the announcement on Friday morning, shortly after the procedure was completed, also revealing that recovery time is 4-to-6 weeks. Rose then could return before the end of the regular season.

On the court, the Bulls endured Friday night with a 96-89 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in game four of a seven-game homestand. Chicago is 3-1 and awaits Washington and Oklahoma City.

Jimmy Butler had 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead Chicago. Mike Dunleavy added 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for the Bulls, who bounced back from Wednesday's 98-86 loss to Charlotte Hornets. Joakim Noah contributed 11 points, 12 boards and eight assists.

Chicago forward Pau Gasol sat out with an illness and Taj Gibson left in the first quarter with a left ankle injury.

"It is hard, but we have enough bodies and weapons on our bench to where guys can mix and match and play different positions and guard different positions," said Butler.

The Clippers are 1-1 on their current road trip, which ends Monday in Minnesota.

After a loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, the Clips made up for a Monday home setback to the Memphis Grizzlies with a 97-79 triumph at FedExForum.

Chris Paul scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as he and the Los Angeles Clippers avenged their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this week with a 97-79 win on Friday.

Paul turned the ball over in the closing seconds to seal Memphis' win on Monday, but the All-Star point guard, who also dished out 13 assists, made amends with a stellar fourth-quarter performance.

"Chris Paul dominated the game," Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger said. "They set the tone."

Los Angeles, which had dropped two straight coming in, outscored the Grizzlies in the second half 56-38 and saw five players finish in double figures.

DeAndre Jordan finished with 15 points and 22 rebounds, Jamal Crawford added 19 points off the bench and J.J. Redick netted 18 for the victors. Matt Barnes chipped in 13.

The Bulls beat the Clippers at Staples Center on Nov. 17 to snap a four-game series losing streak. The Clippers have won four in a row in the Windy City.
