Russell Westbrook: (Face) Has Surgery, Out Sunday

Westbrook underwent a successful procedure to correct the zygomatic arch in his right cheek Saturday but he will be forced to sit Sunday's game against the Lakers, Royce Young of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Westbrook will be evaluated sometime next week and should be considered out until further news is released by the Thunder. He had been playing exceptional basketball before suffering the injury late in Friday's game against Portland and even compiled three straight triple-doubles in his previous games. An unfortunate knee to his face by teammate Andre Roberson will allow D.J. Augustin to step in at the helm of Oklahoma City's offense for the time being.
