NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Toronto
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry both bounced back from a rough shooting night to lead the Golden State Warriors in a 113-89 thrashing of the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
Thompson contributed 25 points with five assists and Curry totaled 22 points with five dimes in the win. The Splash Brothers combined for 31 points on 10- of-30 shooting in Thursday's loss to LeBron James and the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers.
The two were much more efficient on Friday, teaming up to shoot 17-of-31 against the nonexistent Toronto defense.
"Our team has done a good job this year of responding to losses," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "I think we were just responding to a disappointing night last night."
Draymond Green added 17 points with nine rebounds for Golden State, which has split each of the four games on its current six-game road trip.
Terrence Ross led the Raptors with 18 points and DeMar DeRozan chipped in 14 on 4-of-16 shooting. Toronto starting point guard Kyle Lowry scored four points on 1-of-7 shooting and did not record an assist in under 19 minutes.
"They are a very good team. That was just a good, old-fashioned, wood-shed butt whooping," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.
The Raptors have lost four straight games after a four-game winning streak.
Golden State did not look sluggish after its notable matchup against the Cavs, bolting out to a 22-5 lead 8 1/2 minutes into the game. Thompson and Green each hit two 3-pointers during the surge for the Warriors, who held Toronto to 1-of-19 shooting (5.3 percent) in the first and led 27-11 after a quarter of play.
The Raptors started the second quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 10, but Golden State ended the final 7 1/2 minutes of the half on a 19-8 burst for a 54-31 lead at the break.
Toronto had 12 turnovers in the first half and was limited to 9-of-37 shooting -- including 1-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Thompson netted the first 11 points for the Warriors to begin the third quarter. He hit three straight treys before Green converted a layup for a 67-33 lead and the Warriors led by as many as 41 over the final 21 minutes.
