Wizards' Pierce, Humphries remain out

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The struggling Washington Wizards will be without Paul Pierce for Friday's contest against the Philadelphia 76ers, when they'll attempt to snap their season-high-tying five-game losing skid.

Pierce is sitting for the second consecutive game with a knee bruise, the team announced. The Wizards are also without power forward Kris Humphries due to a hamstring strain. Humphries sat out the second half of Washington's last contest, an embarrassing 20-point loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Washington enters Friday losers of 10 of its last 12 games and runs the risk of dropping to the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Milwaukee Bucks are hanging tough and trail the fifth-place Wizards by half a game in the East.

Milwaukee visits the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

Pierce is averaging 12.6 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from long range in his first season in Washington.

The 17-year veteran's next chance to play will come Saturday against the Detroit Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back.
