Spoelstra on Bosh: 'We're all just waiting for him to go through the tests'

The Miami Heat are awaiting tests on Chris Bosh's medical condition before determining his status for the remainder of the season.

Bosh spent Thursday night in a Miami-area hospital and was undergoing tests for fear that he had blood clots in his lungs. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said the team is still trying to collect information on the 10-time All-Star's health as reports have surfaced that Bosh could be shut down for the team's final 30 games.

"Nobody has the information right now," Spoelstra said. "We're all just waiting for him to go through the tests. The main thing for us right now is to be here for Chris. He's in good spirits.

"As soon as we collect all the data we will come out with a statement."

Spoelstra's comments came shortly after Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald reported that the team was expected to announce that Bosh would be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Bosh was expected to see specialists Friday for further testing to determine his medical condition, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN. Initial tests on the Heat power forward were inconclusive.

Spoelstra said earlier Friday that Bosh's condition is not life-threatening, as reported by Goodman, and added it's too early for any speculation.

Typically, medication to treat blood clots can require months of limited physical activity. Brooklyn Nets forward Mirza Teletovic was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs in January, ending his season.

Bosh and teammate Dwyane Wade reportedly attended Carnival celebrations in Haiti after All-Star Weekend and, according to Goodman, Wade said Bosh was not feeling well while on the Caribbean island.

"I don't know if he was sick. I'm not a doctor. I just know he wasn't feeling good," Wade said Thursday.

Bosh's friends around the league echoed concern for him on Friday.

The Heat, who added much-needed point guard Goran Dragic in arguably Thursday's biggest deal before the NBA Trade Deadline, have had little luck with health this season. Wade is expected to return to the lineup Friday in New York following a seven-game absence.

Bosh is the team's second-leading scorer and top rebounder.
