Bulls' Jimmy Butler is day-to-day after MRI confirms shoulder strain

It seems like this year's All-Stars have been dropping like flies. Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and Blake Griffin have all been officially ruled out for this weekend's showcase, while Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony are pondering whether to pull out.

Meanwhile, an MRI on Wednesday confirmed a right shoulder strain for Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. The first-time All-Star suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Sacramento Kings

Butler didn't practice Wednesday and is currently listed as day-to-day. With the Bulls playing the last game before the extended All-Star break on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it appears likely Butler will sit out.

It's unclear at this point whether his status for the All-Star Game will be affected, but considering how important Butler has been to the Bulls this season, the team would probably prefer him to exercise caution.

At 20.4 points per game, Butler leads the Bulls and is third among all NBA shooting guards in scoring.
