Knicks' Anthony out again Wednesday

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Time is ticking on Carmelo Anthony's season.

With only one contest remaining before the break, this weekend's All-Star Game may prove to be the last time the forward suits up, if he's even able to represent the Eastern Conference.

Anthony won't play Wednesday against the Orlando Magic with a sore left knee, the New York Knicks have confirmed. He's been bothered by the knee injury for much of the season and aggravated it in Monday's loss to the Miami Heat.

New York's leading scorer finally confirmed long-reported rumors he may have to cut his season short to undergo knee surgery. With the Knicks taking an NBA-worst 10-42 record into Wednesday, there's essentially nothing left for Anthony to play for.

The All-Star Game in New York City - Anthony's eighth since entering the league in 2003 - is likely the lone exception.

Anthony, who signed a five-year max deal with the Knicks in the offseason, is averaging 24.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 40 games.
