Patrick Beverley replaces John Wall in All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge

Dealing with a balky ankle and frequent headaches over the past couple of weeks, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has opted to sit out the Skills Challenge on All-Star Saturday in order to rest, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.

Wall is reportedly not hurt, beyond those minor lingering ailments, and his status for the Wizards' game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday - and for the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday - remain unchanged as of Tuesday.

That means Wall's goal of breaking Magic Johnson's 31-year-old All-Star Game record of 22 assists is still alive.

Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley has been named Wall's replacement for the competition, which also features Jeff Teague, Kyle Lowry, Isaiah Thomas, Brandon Knight, Michael Carter-Williams, Jimmy Butler and Trey Burke.
