Kings' Collison, Gay out Sunday against Suns

Kelley L Cox / USA Today Sports

The Sacramento Kings will be shorthanded on Sunday when they take on the Phoenix Suns, as small forward Rudy Gay will sit due to a sore left foot, reports James Ham of Cowbell Kingdom.

Point guard Darren Collison will also sit due to a hip flexor.

Gay suited up in the Kings' last game on Saturday against the Utah Jazz. He managed to log nearly 29 minutes of play, but scored just four points on 1-of-8 shooting.

Collison missed the contest against the Jazz.

Not having Gay and Collison presents a world of problems for the reeling Kings, who have been in a freefall since dismissing head coach Mike Malone. Collison has brought steadiness as a lead guard, averaging 16.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists while playing pesky on-ball defense. Gay is averaging 19.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

In their absence, the Kings will likely turn to Ramon Sessions to run the point, while Omri Casspi likely takes over on the wing.
