Bulls' Hinrich will not play Sunday due to turf toe

Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports

The Chicago Bulls will be without Kirk Hinrich when they take on the Orlando Magic on Sunday, as the veteran point guard has been ruled out due to turf toe.

Hinrich suffered the injury during the first half of the Bulls' win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

While the Magic have lost 16 of their last 19 games and don't appear to post a serious threat, they beat the Bulls less than a month ago, are catching the Bulls on the second night of a back-to-back, and are undefeated under interim head coach James Borrego.

With Mike Dunleavy still on the sidelines due to a lingering ankle issue, The Bulls have started Hinrich as a shooting guard alongside Derrick Rose. The Bulls have been 2.3 points per 100 possessions stingier on defense with Hinrich on the floor this season, and his ability to check bigger guards would have come in handy against Victor Oladipo.

Tony Snell is expected to start in Hinrich's place.
