Report: Knicks looking to deal Prigioni before trade deadline

Anthony Gruppuso / USA Today Sports

Very few players on last-place teams are ever untouchable, and that's especially true of 37-year-old backup point guards.

So maybe it won't come as news that the Eastern Conference cellar-dwelling New York Knicks have put Pablo Prigioni on the trade block, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post

Prigioni has sat out five of the Knicks' last eight games, and was a late scratch before Tuesday night's loss to the Boston Celtics, with the Knicks announcing a hip injury just before tipoff.

The Knicks have already shown a willingness to part with long-tenured players even if the return nets little more than a trade exception. With the Feb.19 trade deadline fast approaching, and at least one team showing moderate interest in Prigioni, he's probably not long for New York.

In his third NBA season, the steady but decidedly unspectacular Prigioni is averaging a career-high 4.7 points in 18.5 minutes per game, though he's shooting career-low percentages from the field (42.4) and 3-point range (37.5).
