Bucks without Brandon Knight on Monday

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Bucks will have to lean even more heavily on their defense than normal on Monday.

Already getting by with an average offense and the No. 2-ranked defense, the Bucks will take on the Toronto Raptors without their top scorer. Brandon Knight has a quad injury and will miss a game for the first time all season.

It's a big loss for the Bucks, even if the on/off-court numbers suggest they've been appreciably better with Knight off the floor. Some of that owes to the team's balance between units and Knight's group being tasked with the tougher assignments, and Knight's scoring ability isn't easily replicated elsewhere on the roster.

In 47 games, Knight is averaging 17.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists, hitting on 40.5 percent of his threes and posting an above-average 18.4 player efficiency rating.

With Knight out, the Bucks will turn to a combination of Jerryd Bayless, O.J. Mayo, D-League call-up Jorge Gutierrez and perhaps Giannis Antetokounmpo to handle point guard duties.
