Rondo out Monday after suffering head injury

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo took a frightening shot to the face from the knee of teammate Richard Jefferson on Saturday, and it will keep him out of Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to NBA.com's Earl K. Sneed.

Rondo tripped and was accidentally kneed in the head by Jefferson in the first quarter against the Orlando Magic. With blood pouring out of his nose, he left the game and did not return.

According to Stein's report, Rondo will be evaluated by the Mavericks' medical staff again Sunday.

Since arriving in Dallas from the Boston Celtics on Dec. 18, Rondo is averaging 11.4 points, 8.1 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game.
