Tom Benson, the owner of the NFL's New Orleans Saints and the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans, can't seem to stay out of the news lately.

Already fighting a succession battle with his daughter and her children, Benson is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons following Friday night's Pelicans game.

A car carrying Benson was involved in a traffic incident that injured a security guard after Friday night's 108-103 win over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Smoothie King Center.

The security guard "suffered a foot injury and was transported to a hospital," according to New Orleans police spokesman Tyler Gamble, as reported by The Times-Picayune.

The incident occurred Friday night at around 10:30 p.m. ET in a VIP parking lot outside the arena. Gamble noted that Benson's driver and the security guard gave conflicting statements.

Benson's attorney, Phil Wittmann, said that Benson's car was moving slowly when one of its tires rolled over the security guard's foot.

The extent of the security guard's injuries have not yet been determined.

Benson's chauffeured car was detained for a time, so Benson left the scene in another vehicle with Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and went home, according to Wittmann.
