Report: Rockets' Howard could miss extended time with right knee injury

More knee troubles could shelve Dwight Howard for an extended period of time as the Houston Rockets jockey for position in the loaded Western Conference.

Howard has fluid buildup in his right knee and is seeking a second opinion on the severity of the issue, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports.

A report by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday said Howard has been ruled out for both of the Rockets' upcoming road games this weekend.

Howard has been playing through pain after straining his knee earlier in the season, an injury that cost him 11 games. He has missed the team's last two contests and 14 total already this season, a number that's only set to climb.

Houston has played exceptionally well without the 6-foot-11, 275-pounder in the lineup, going 10-4 sans Howard leading into Friday's game against the Boston Celtics

The eight-time All-Star is averaging 16.3 points, 11 rebounds and blocking 1.4 shots in 32.2 minutes per game.
