Heat rule Wade out for Friday's game

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Due to a strained right hamstring that reportedly will keep Dwyane Wade off the court for an extended period, the Miami Heat have ruled their veteran star out for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

On Wednesday, the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman reported that the Heat are preparing for the near future under the assumption that Wade will be out for an extended period.

The 33-year-old guard strained his right hamstring in Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the opposite leg in which a hamstring pull kept him out of seven games earlier this season.

Wade said Thursday that he hasn't thought about how the injury would effect a possible bench selection to the All-Star Game.

Friday will mark the 10th game Wade has missed this season. Last year, he missed 28. Wade leads the Heat at 21.4 points per game, and with Luol Deng also out Friday, Miami is without two of its top three scorers.
