Durant out Wednesday with toe sprain

A toe sprain will sideline Kevin Durant for a second consecutive game when the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the New York Knicks on Wednesday, head coach Scott Brooks said.

Durant, who missed Monday's victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves due to the toe injury, was listed as day-to-day on Tuesday.

The reigning MVP has played in only 21 games this season, missing the first quarter of the season after undergoing preseason foot surgery to address a Jones fracture before missing time in December with a sprained ankle.

While the 8-37 Knicks are certainly the type of team the Thunder should be able to afford sitting Durant against, OKC has a limited margin for error thanks to those early season injuries to Durant and Russell Westbrook. The Thunder enter Wednesday in 10th-place in the Western Conference, 2.5 games behind eighth-place Phoenix.

Durant is averaging 25.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and a block per game on nearly 52 percent shooting, posting a Player Efficiency Rating of 28.7 that ranks second only to Anthony Davis.
