Rockets' McHale says Terrence Jones could return 'within a week'

After coming face-to-face with his basketball mortality, Houston Rockets power forward Terrence Jones is on the comeback trail.

Jones could return to action within a week, Rockets head coach Kevin McHale told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle

Earlier this week, Jones spoke to the Houston Chronicle's Jenny Dial Creech about his tough recovery from a nerve issue in his leg that jeopardized his professional career.

Jones has been sidelined since November due to his injury, having played just four games to date this season. Last season, Jones was given the chance to compete for the Rockets' starting power forward position and the versatile forward handily won the favor of McHale with a statline of 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Still only 23 years of age, Jones is one of many promising pieces in Houston's suddenly crowded frontcourt. Given the Rockets' acquisition of Josh Smith and the emergence of Donatas Motiejunas, there will be plenty of competition for minutes in McHale's rotation.
