Rockets' Howard injures ankle; no timeline on return

PHOENIX (AP) Houston Rockets forward Dwight Howard left the US Airways Center in a walking boot after injuring his right ankle in the first quarter of his team's win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

The star center suffered the injury when he twisted the ankle landing on the foot of one of the Suns players. Howard limped back to the locker room and did not return to the game.

''I really couldn't put any pressure on it,'' Howard said after Houston's 113-111 win. ''But we got the win, so that's the only thing that matters.''

Howard had five points and three rebounds in 8:29 of playing time. He seemed light-hearted, singing in the locker room before saying that his ankle felt a little better.

Rockets coach Kevin McHale said the team would know more on Saturday about Howard's status for upcoming games.

Howard had been listed as probable to play Friday with a strained right knee.
