NBA Game Summary - Toronto at Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Lowry came alive late and Greivis Vasquez made the go-ahead basket with 25.9 seconds left to lift the Toronto Raptors over the Philadelphia 76ers, 91-86, on Friday.
Michael Carter-Williams made a 3-pointer, then stole the ball before making a layup to give the Sixers an 86-85 lead with 41.9 seconds remaining.
Lowry missed from beyond the arc but DeMar DeRozan pulled down the offensive rebound. Vasquez then made a layup to put Toronto in front.
Carter-Williams drove to the hoop and turned the ball over, leading to a pair of Jonas Valanciunas free throws with 10.6 seconds to go. Henry Sims air- balled a 3-pointer at the other end and the ball went out of bounds off Philadelphia.
Lowry capped his 17-point fourth quarter with two free throws to seal the game.
Lowry, who was named an NBA All-Star starter on Thursday, ended with 21 points and three steals for the Raptors, who have won seven straight against Philadelphia.
"Thank God for Kyle because we didn't play any kind of basketball whatsoever tonight," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey.
Patrick Patterson added 14 points and 13 rebounds off the bench for Toronto, which had lost three of four coming in. Vasquez tallied 12 points.
Robert Covington made four 3-pointers en route to 18 points for the Sixers, who fell to 3-18 at home this season. K.J. McDaniels had 14 points and Carter- Williams and Nerlens Noel each scored 12 points, with Noel also pulling down 14 boards.
"I thought Michael Carter-Williams was a stud tonight," said Sixers coach Brett Brown.
Trailing 67-62 early in the fourth, the Sixers went on a 15-1 run. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute tallied seven points during the surge, including a three-point play with 5:39 left to give the Sixers a 77-68 edge.
Lowry, a Philadelphia native, then heated up, scoring 15 points during a 17-4 Toronto run. He capped the burst with two free throws to make it 85-81 with 1:15 to play.
Earlier, Covington went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the first quarter as the Sixers built a 30-22 lead.
But the Raptors scored the first eight points of the second to tie things up. Toronto ended the first half on a 10-2 spurt to take a 48-41 lead into the locker room.
The Raptors led by as many as 10 in the third before taking a 63-62 advantage into the fourth.
