LaMarcus Aldridge: (Thumb) Out 6-to-8 Weeks

Aldridge has been diagnosed with a torn ligament in his left thumb and will miss 6-to-8 weeks, The Columbian reports.

Analysis:

Aldridge's situation had been characterized by murkiness since injuring his left thumb Monday. However, after undergoing a second MRI, a more conclusive timetable has emerged, which will require surgery to repair the tear. He'll now certainly miss the All-Star game on Feb. 15, with a return date falling in the first two weeks of March. In the meantime, the Blazers will trot out a patchwork frontcourt due to the continued absences of Robin Lopez (hand) and Joel Freeland (shoulder). Until Freeland returns to action, the likely candidates to cover power forward on a nightly basis are Dorell Wright and Thomas Robinson.
