Hawks' Korver will take part in All-Star 3-point contest

Kevin Liles-USA TODAY Sports

Kyle Korver is in the midst of the greatest shooting season in NBA history, and now he'll take that record-setting stroke to All-Star Weekend's 3-Point Shootout.

Korver, who took part in the event in 2004 and 2005, will join Stephen Curry in the Saturday night competition that featured eight contestants last season.

Through 42 games, Korver has converted 51.8 percent of his field goal attempts, 53.5 percent of his 3-point attempts and 92.2 percent of his free throws for the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks.

He's on pace to record the league's first official 50-50-90 season. Steve Kerr recorded a 50-50-90 season in 1995-96, but his 78 made free throws came up well short of the 125 needed to qualify.

Korver's 3-point accuracy this season is only 0.1 percent off his own record pace, set in 2009-10.
